Is the rush for rooms starting?
It’s been a quiet year for the flatshare market, with demand down as young renters moved home for lockdown. But the signs are there that things are beginning to move again.
London accounts for around half the UK flatshare market, and it’s where COVID hit hardest, with a fall in demand meaning rents dropped by as much as 30% in some areas.
But April figures show that things are changing. The number of people looking for rooms in London in April was up by 17% compared to January. This could mark the start of pent-up demand finally being released as life in the UK finally opens up.
Now could be the perfect time to find a room in London while rents are still down!
